Three Programmes, One Direction
Each programme offers a different depth of engagement with personal finance — choose the one that fits where you are right now.
Back to HomeHow We Work
Our Teaching Approach
Every Riang Advisory programme follows the same foundational principle: understanding before advancement. We do not move to a new topic until the current one sits clearly. This means sessions unfold at the participant's pace — some topics take ten minutes, others take an hour. Both are fine.
All three programmes use real Malaysian financial instruments, actual regulations, and current market data. We do not use hypothetical foreign markets as the primary frame of reference. If we discuss global markets, we do so through the lens of what a Malaysian investor can access and what regulations apply.
Each programme begins with an assessment — formal or informal depending on the programme — to ensure that the starting point is right for you. Materials are provided before sessions where relevant so that participants can engage prepared rather than overwhelmed.
Programme 01
Net Worth Awareness Workshop
A two-session workshop built around one deceptively simple question: what is your current net worth? For many people — even those who have managed household finances for decades — the answer is genuinely unclear. This workshop changes that.
Participants work through a structured exercise covering all significant assets (EPF, investments, property, vehicles, savings) and all current liabilities (mortgages, personal loans, credit balances). The result is a complete net worth statement and a method for maintaining it going forward.
What the Sessions Cover
Asset identification and valuation — EPF, property, unit trusts, savings, and other holdings
Liability listing and quantification — mortgages, car loans, PTPTN, credit balances
- Net worth tracking spreadsheet provided
- Methodology for updating the calculation over time
- No prior financial knowledge required

Programme 02
Global Market Awareness Course
A three-session course for Malaysian investors who want to understand how international financial markets work — and how they connect to investment options available locally. The course is designed for participants with no prior international market knowledge.
The curriculum uses current events and real market data to make abstract concepts tangible. By the end, participants understand what drives US market movements, how Asian and emerging market dynamics differ, and what international unit trusts and ETFs available in Malaysia actually represent.
Session Structure
Understanding major global markets — US, Asia, emerging economies — and what moves them
Currency effects on Malaysian investors and how exchange rate movements affect returns
International unit trusts and ETFs available in Malaysia — how to evaluate and access them
- Global exposure planning worksheet included
- Course notes provided after each session
- No prior international market knowledge required
Programme 03
Financial Mentorship Programme
A six-session one-on-one programme that addresses your entire personal finance picture. Unlike the workshops, which follow a standard curriculum, the Mentorship Programme is rebuilt from scratch for each participant using a pre-session financial assessment.
Topics covered depend entirely on what is most relevant to you: budgeting and cashflow, Takaful and conventional insurance review, EPF and PRS positioning, investment portfolio review, income tax planning, retirement income modelling, or estate planning fundamentals. The six sessions are paced to ensure genuine understanding at each stage.
Programme Structure
Pre-programme assessment to map your current financial picture and identify priority areas
Four personalised sessions covering the topics most relevant to your situation, in sequence
Integration session — connecting all topics into a coherent whole and planning next steps
- Personal progress portfolio compiled throughout
- Four follow-up consultations included after the six sessions
- Fully customised to your Malaysian financial reality
